Former Meucci Factory
It was an old textile factory situated on the side of the Bisenzio river at the confluence with the Fiumenta torrent and, as other old Prato factories, was built on an old mill.
For a certain period both activities were carried out inside the large building where one of the first carbonizzi (carbonize) of the area was activated, which was also joined by a rag, making the Meucci family one of the first in the sector of millers-textile entrepreneurs. In 1922 the building was enlarged to house the spinning department while in 1928, the textile business now prevalent led to the final disposal of the milling plant.
Despite the damage suffered during the Second World War, the factory remained active until 1988. In the 90s the Municipal Administration of Vernio, which in the meantime acquired the complex, restored the building transforming it into the Museum of Textile Machines - Mumat.
