Museum and Documentation Centre for Deportation and Resistance
The museum is located in the place where on 6th September 1944, on the day of Liberation of the city, twenty-nine partisans were captured by the Germans and hanged in the centre of the town. the museum itinerary is conceived as a journey through a Nazi concentration and extermination camp. More specifically, it is meant to remember the event of Prato's workers deported to the lagers of Mauthausen and Ebensee in Austria. Among the exhibited objects, some are original and donated to the city by the Association of ex deportees, others have been reconstructed by the initiative of the few survivors. The objects are accompanied by captions and phrases from the testimony of ex deportees. The itinerary is completed by photographs and film segments. The exhibition space hosts temporary shows.
The Centre of documentation has a space for meetings and conferences, it has a library and video library, a space for consulting the material contained in the Centre and for individual computer workstations.
