The fountain of Vaiano dedicated to the river Bisenzio

Author: Teachers and students of the Art School of Sesto Fiorentino.

It is made of glazed stoneware, with colours that are mainly blue, to evoke the water of the Bisenzio river.
Like precious stones vibrate on the glazed bottom of the Vaiano fountain veins of aquamarine, turquoise, rose quartz and amethyst spaced by roundish slits from which the water spurts. Anyone driving along the state road, coming from Prato, will see the fountain at the entrance of Vaiano, sinuous monolith, four metre tall, ideal allusion to the nearby river, from which it seems to take form.
Anywhere it is, a fountain represents for the surrounding territory a historical long-lasting symbol that is consolidated in the memory and is a testimony on the will to take care, also from the aesthetic point of view, of the spaces that characterise the city.
