Church of Santa Maria del Giglio

Originally the oratory of Saint Silvestro, it was remodeled and converted into the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Giglio (St. Mary of the Lily) between 1672 and 1680, consequent to a miraculous event that occurred in relation to a picture of the Virgin frescoed on the outer wall of the church above a well, when a withered lily placed before the painting reflowered prodigiously.
Under the portico in front of the church is the entrance portal made of sandstone, dating from the first half of the 15th century. The interior has a single nave covered by seven wooden trusses.
The venerated fresco of the Nursing Madonna is today placed at the centre of the elegant high altar, framed by the canvas of Pier Dandini with the Saints Silvester, Hyacinth and Magdalene (1705).
The sanctuary can be visited by appointment.
