Parish church of S. Pietro in Figline and Museum

The Pieve (country church) of San Pietro has an external structure made of Alberese with Serpentine inserts, a testimony of the its medieval origin. Between the end of the thirteenth century and the beginning of the fourteenth century it was extended with the addition of the transept and of the bell-tower. Inside the church, which has a Latin cross floor-plan, is covered by a wooden trusses ceiling.
Many frescos sating back to the fourteenth and fifteenth century are preserved in it. From the church it is possible to access the small museum of the pieve (1973 on a project of Francesco Gurrieri) exhibiting, as well as paintings and sacred furnishing, some high medieval finds and various terracotta achromatic objects dated back to the fourteenth-fifteenth century coming from local furnaces.
