Etruscan Necropolis of Prato Rosello
The necropolis of Prato Rosello is the main Etruscan finding, identified in 1966 along the road that connects the Medici Villa of Artimino to Poggio alla Malva. A long track in the greenery leads to the excavation area that have brought to light, as well as portions of sets for burials without monumental context (kept inside the Archaeological Museum of Artimino), also around ten barrows that testimony the existence of the necropolis starting from the end of the eighth century BC. Among the most important ones, Tumulus B that includes the so called Tomb of the Warrior, exceptionally untouched even if very damaged by collapses and infiltrations, and that of Tumulus C, with a rectangular chamber tomb with monolithic walls, preceded by a small vestibule and a beautifully preserved staircase, which returned to light the Bucchero incense burner (last twenty years of the seventh century BC).
