Prometheus Strangling the Vultur II

The statue "Prometheus Strangling the Vultur II", is a bronze work by the Lithuanian sculptor Jacques Lipchitz donated to the city of Prato by the artist's family and friends in 2013.
The statue represents Prometheus, which according to Greek mythology stole fire from the gods to return it to human beings. This gesture infuriated Zeus who chained Prometheus to a rocky mountain to be tortured by an eagle for eternity. In the sculptural version of Lipchitz Prometheus triumphs over his destiny, he frees himself from the chains and with one hand strangles the bird while with the other he grabs his claws.
