The antenna by Nio

In 2016, the Pecci Centre reopened after the enlargement signed by the architect Maurice Nio and the renovation of the original building designed by the rationalist architect Italo Gamberini.
Its new ring shape, covered with a gold-colored aluminum alloy, original and spectacular, lends itself to the most varied declinations of fantasy and imagination: a disk, a long wave, a horseshoe, a spaceship, a moon comma, "a piercing", as it has already been defined.
At the top of the ring, in a lateral position with respect to the symmetry axis of the museum complex, stands the "antenna", a scenic presence, an urban signal, an element that catalyzes attention, an object that captures, solicits reactions, provokes visions and represents the symbol of the mission of the new cultural program: capturing creative emergencies and signaling their presence on the territory. Nio himself defines it: "It is an antenna. It probes cultural humors, looking for new currents".
