Museum of Planetary Sciences

Inaugurated in 2005 the Museum presents an interesting itinerary that starts from the birth of the Universe and of the Solar System up to the origin of Earth. A rich collection of meteorites and a splendid collection of minerals are exhibited in the museum which is therefore particularly dedicated to didactics, diffusion and scientific research.
The collection of meteorites and rocks from impact contains approximately 400 specimens, of which 120 exhibited, and that of minerals contains approximately 4100 specimens, of which 130 exhibited. Among the specimens exhibited the metallic meteorite of Nantan stands out, representing with its 272 kg, the largest existing meteorite in Italy. The collection of minerals presents exceptional specimens including a topaz of considerable size.
The museum itinerary includes the "quadric-sphere", where it is possible to watch a multi-projection that, thanks to a mirror effect, shows through sounds and images the events that range from the formation of the Universe and of the Solar System up to the birth of life on the planet.
