Calamai Wool Mill
In 1924-31 in Viale Galilei the Calamai family built an industrial plant (designed by the Florentine studio Poggi and Gaudenzi). The new Lanificio Figli by Michelangelo Calamai is a large rectangular space in which there are six reinforced concrete buildings, separated by pathways, and by a monumental façade in classical style, which is a rare example of the "bare" factories of the time. The 16,000 square meters of the structure on a square plan make it one of the largest textile factories in the area, which housed offices and houses. In particular, the monumental façade has a large arch in the central area, surmounted by the clock and a beautiful wrought iron gate, on the top of which are elegant floral decorations that crown the company's initials. Recently on the walls of the former Calamai factory is the mural made by the writer Dem.
