Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Soccorso
The Sanctuary in situated in Via Roma and was built after that miraculous events occurred at a tabernacle situated at the crossroads with the road for Galciana (today's Via Marco Roncioni). In particular, on 6th November 1574, during a storm, within the tabernacle a little shepherdess and her flock were miraculously protected from the violent rain. Other extraordinary events occurred in the following months.
The church has a portico on three sides, the prototype for many Tuscan sanctuaries of the 17th-18th centuries. The miraculous fresco of the Nursing Madonna, by Antonio di Miniato (15th century) is today placed at the centre of the high altar.
