Church of Santa Maria della Pietà
The sanctuary is where in 1616 the image of the Madonna painted on a tabernacle was seen crying. Among those who come to pray the Virgin Mary there was also Cosimo II who commissioned the Florentine architect Gherardo Mechini to design a sanctuary. The building is surrounded on three sides by a portico where the pilgrims found shelter. It has a gabled facade and the bell-tower (1771) located at the back, is made of bricks. The interior has a Latin cross floor-plan and preserves works by Pier Maria Ciottoli and Giovan Battista Cennini, Mario Balassi and Alessandro Gherardini.
