Centre of Contemporary Art "Luigi Pecci"
Built according to the design of the Florentine rationalist architect Italo Gamberini. The centre, established in 1988 in memory of Luigi Pecci, son of the industrialist Enrico Pecci, with the contribution of the Town Council and various private businesses, offers to the visitors the exhibition of the permanent collection, but also a calendar of temporary exhibitions at international level and then educational and advanced cultural activities, shows and multimedia events. The important permanent collection is composed of works by major artists of the past 30 years.
The center has been completely restored on the futuristic project of the Chinese-Dutch architect Maurice Nio and reopened to the public in the autumn of 2016. Today the complex houses, in addition to approximately 4000 square meters of exhibition halls, archives and a specialized library CID / Visual Arts, which has a collection of about 60,000 volumes, the auditorium-cinema, a bookshop, a restaurant and bistro and an outdoor theater. In the garden has been replaced the Exegi Monumentum Aere Perennius, steel work by Anne and Patrick Poirier.
