Cathedral Museum

The Museum, among the richest diocesan museums in Italy, occupies part of the sixteenth century Bishop's Palace and preserves painting works of the twelfth-nineteenth century, sacred art objects and vestments, Etruscans finds: material from the Cathedral and from other churches of the Diocese. Among the masterpieces the original parapet of the Pulpit of the Cathedral is kept, representing a dance of little angels, sculpted by Donatello and helpers between 1434 and 1438. In the room of the Sacred Belt works pertaining to the cult of the Marian relic are exhibited, among which silver objects, reliefs of the fourteenth century and precious textiles. Connected to the Museum the nice Romanesque cloister and the "vaults", ancient burials under the chapels of the Duomo.
