Taste itinerary: The Montalbano cuisine
The Montalbano area around Carmignano is the land of the god Bacchus, where a special wine and a very good oil are produced. With these premises the cuisine can only be excellent.
This land produces also less known but tasty products as the famous Carmignano figs that characterized the name of this area near florence as "Carmignan dei fichi".
It is also a land of game since the Medici instituted the Barco Reale in 1626. It was a hunting reserve surrounded by a high wall 50 km long that covered a great part of the area of Carmignano to protect wild boars, hares, pheasants, etc..but also to have game for the Grand duke's hunting.
