The Wool and Silk Route

Two hiking routes will start at the same time from Piazza Maggiore in Bologna and from Piazza del Duomo in Prato to rejoin, after three days of walking, in the square of Castiglione dei Pepoli, a central stop between the two cities of departure.

Walkers departing  from Bologna will stop Thursday evening in Sasso Marconi, on Friday they will pass through the historical park of Monte Sole and will spend the night in Grizzana Morandi, passing by Burzanella on Saturday and walking to Montovolo.

The walkers coming from Prato, instead, will go up to the Calvana mountain and on Thursday will stay overnight in the Montecuccioli area. On Friday will cross the Vernio territory to arrive in Montepiano, from where they will leave on Saturday, stopping for lunch in the village of Rasora.

It is possible to walk for all three days or joining the group only for one, or even take a walk of about 6 km, organized together with the Emilia Romagna APT Routes.

A tour around the town of Castiglione to visit its historical and naturalistic places: the historic center, the Old Church, the centuries-old chestnut grove, the lake of Santa Maria, the cemetery of the South Africans.

The big news this year is the "credential", which participants can withdraw at departure or request the shipment in advance, making it stamped along the way to keep the memory of it.
